How the footy card game works

The match does the work. Goals, marks and score reviews become moments to watch for, depending on the cards you are holding. Keep the rules card handy for the details, settle in with your mates and follow the game already on TV.

Unlike a deck of unrelated dares or questions, The Local follows what happens during the match. It is built for the couch, a Friday-night get-together or a Grand Final watch party. Plan around the match rather than a fixed number of rounds.

I'll preface this with we just finished playing while watching the '26 Swans Lions QF, so I've clearly been drinking.
BUT, this is potentially the most fun I've had both watching a game played by teams I don't support, and playing a party card game.
My partner who I struggle to get playing anything that's not COD, smashed the rest of us. We finished the deck by end of the 3rd quarter. And we got the most Swans relevant card (if you know you know 😉), with 5 goals, could've actually be won 3 times over. Pity I can't include photos here, I'll try and work out tagging on socials before we start the Crows Dogs game.

For men’s mental health month this year I got a few boys around the footy and we cracked this game out. Absolute ripper of a time highly recommend to anyone that likes footy and beer.

This is a fun game. Although if you are a real footy buff you may get distracted from the game. I played this with my 9 yr old grandson and he loved it. We played for lollies of course ; ) Can’t wait to play it on grand final day!!!
